  • When Can My Child Begin Classes?
    * Recreational Classes and beginning level classes are on-going, and enrollment can begin at anytime, as long as space is still available.
    * All other academic classes are a part of the 10 Month Academic Program.
    * New classes are added, so please check the schedule.

  • Can my child try a class before registration?
    Yes, as a gift to our perspective students, we allow one free trial class. Please request a 'free trial' class card from the administration office.

  • At which level should I or my child begin?
    Entry levels depend on age, dance experience, and skill level. Each student may be enrolled with the recommendation of the administration, but may be moved to a more appropriate level by instructors or the academy director. Back to Top
  • How do I register?
    1) Register online at www.shindance.com (class schedules section).

  • Why should I pre-register for the program?
    In addition to securing (enroll) your choice of classes, you will receive a gift from Shin Dance for committing to the program in advance.

  • What is the 10 month Academic Program?
    The 10 month Academic Program begins in September and runs through June. This program has specific course objectives for strong foundation, and students then learn choreography which will be performed in our annual recital in June.

  • When do I register for the 10 month Academic Program?
    Pre-registration for returning students begin on May 1st through May 14th, and for new students on May 15th. The deadline for pre-registration is May 31st. All other registrations will be the first class in September. Back to Top

  • When are the Winter & Summer breaks?
    The Winter Break is from December 22nd – January 2nd. The Summer Break 2009 is from August 17th – August 31st. Back to Top
  • When is the annual performance?
    The annual performance is in June 21st. Students who wish to participate in the performance must be in class at least 5 months before the performance.

  • Tuition Policies
  • When is tuition collected?
    1) Full payment of the entire 10 Month Academic Program is due no later than September 30th, (NO EXCEPTIONS).
    2)
    Partial payment is due by September 30th, and the second installment is due by February 1st.
    3)
    Monthly tuition is due before the 1st of each month; late fees of $15.00 apply after the 2nd of each month. Back to Top
  • How do I pay tuition?
    We have provided a number of ways to pay tuition to make the process for all parents and students more convenient.
    All payment types are accepted. (Credit-Card, Cash, Check)

    1) Log onto 'Jackrabbit' online software and pay with a credit card or an e-check through your customer portal.
    2) Fill out an Automatic Consent Form, and we’ll automatically withdraw the tuition on the 1st of each month from a credit card or your bank account.
    3) Drop off a check in a payment envelope in the administration office or in the secured tuition box located outside the administration office
    before the 1st of month.
    4) Walk into the administration office and pay at the counter.

  • How do I log on to my 'Jackrabbit' customer portal?
    1) Go to www.shindance.com and click on the tab: 'customer portal'.
    2) Click on “I don’t know my password”
    3) Enter your email and press “continue” (Jackrabbit will send you your new password to your email account within 30 seconds).

    Copy your new password and return to Jackrabbit.
    5) Enter your email and your recently

  • What is Single Class Tuition?
    Single class tuition is the retail price for all classes.
    All tuition that is under a full month (4x) is considered single class tuition.
    No late fees apply to Single Class Tuition.

  • When do I get charged the Late Fee?
    The late fee of $15.00 is charged to all unpaid accounts on the 2nd of each month.
    No late fees apply to Single Class Tuition.

  • What is Monthly Tuition?
    Monthly Tuition is the discounted rate that students receive when they pay for the entire month. Discounts are calculated according to the number of hours each student attends classes in a week. (“Hourly Rate”) Back to Top

  • What happens if I miss a class?
    If you pay the single class tuition, we will charge you only for the classes you attend. If you pay the discounted monthly tuition rate, you will either forfeit the class or you may ask the office if you are eligible for a make-up class voucher. Back to Top
  • How do I qualify for a "make-up" class voucher?
    A class voucher is issued with 3 months of perfect attendance on paid tuition.

  • What is the dress code for Ballet classes?
    Dancers must have their hair tied in a ballet bun with bangs pinned back and wear pink tights Pointe shoes or ballet slippers (not “ballet styled” shoes or house slippers) and a leotard according to the class color. Back to Top

    Pre-Ballet.....Pink

  • What shoes are allowed inside the dance studios?
    Ballet slippers, Pointe shoes, Jazz shoes, Modern dance paws, Jazz sneakers, Tap shoes, and clean sneakers for Hip-Hop may be worn inside the studio. No dance shoes may be worn in the streets. Absolutely NO street shoes are allowed in the studio at any time. Dirt, oil and small stones damage the floor and create injury. All street shoes MUST be placed on the shoe rack outside the studio, or they are subject to be moved to the administration office for safety reasons. Back to Top
  • May I use an empty studio to practice dance?
    Because Shin Dance Academy has recently remodeled its facilities, we allow usage of our studio only with a studio rental agreement form. Special allowances may be granted, please speak to the administration or the academy director. Back to Top
  • May I record the class sessions at Shin Dance?

  • Why should I choose Shin Dance?
    Shin Dance Academy specializes in Chinese dance with emphasis on ballet foundations. We hire only the most qualified instructors who care about each student’s progress and each parent’s concerns. We have excellent facilities and a friendly staff. Back to Top
  • Am I too old to start my dance education?
    It is never too late to start dancing! Our adult dance classes are specially designed to serve as an introduction to dance and movement for dancers at any age with or without dance experience. Back to Top
  • Am I too young to start dance?
    The age at which we start accepting students into our academy depends solely on the individual maturity and attention span of each child. We recommend at least 3.5 years of age. Back to Top
  • When can I start Pointe work?
    Students who wish to start pointe work should consult their instructors or the Academy Director. Students must be at least 11 years old with strong core muscles, ankles, calves, and ballet technique. It is a requirement for all students who take Pointe class to take at least one additional intermediate-advanced ballet technique class at Shin Dance Academy. Back to Top
  • What is Shin Dance Company?
    Shin Dance Company, founded by Artistic Director Shin Yue Wang, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting Chinese culture through the beauty of dance arts. Dancers join the Company family by invitation or audition to perform throughout local community and serve charitable organizations. Shin Dance Company’s repertoire of traditional and Chinese influenced dance-arts celebrates individual expression, illuminates artistic collaboration and enriches multi-cultural understanding.   • How are Shin Dance Company members chosen?
    The Artistic Director invites current perspective Shin Dance Academy students to become a part of the Shin Dance Company. The perspective members then review the contract, and if they agree to the terms and conditions, sign the contract and accept all the responsibilities of the 'Company' membership, then they give oath to the Shin Dance Company.   • How can I get a DVD of performances or pictures that are taken by Shin Dance Academy?
    You may purchase selected photos and/or DVD's from Shin Dance Academy. All recorded material (all pictures, videos, multimedia projects, and DVDs) taken by Shin Dance Academy belongs to Shin Dance Academy, inc., Temple City Dance and Music, and Fluid Vision, Inc. and is fully copyrighted and has permission to be used for any and all promotional purposes. All rights reserved. No photos or video may be copied, reproduced or electronically transferred without the written permission from Shin Dance Academy, Inc, Temple City Dance and Music, and/or Fluid Vision, Inc.
